Besides those activities which were enjoyed over wine and nibbles with some family and friends, I potted around in the garden, planting more petunias and organising some big pots for some cherry tomatoes and herbs. One of our sons made a planter box for me and I've placed it alongside one of our sheds. I managed to get 4 big pots into it, so hopefully they will grow well.
Our next project for the house is to give our bathroom a makeover. We are just in the planning stages so no photos yet, but we did visit a shop to start choosing floor tiles and look at vanities.
We brought a few tiles home to try and I think we will go for the chocolate one for the floor in the photo below. (not a good photo!!).
Instead of getting our wall tiles re-tiled we are going to paint them. We've done a bit of research on it and have decided to give it a bash!! We will paint them white and our son will probably build us a new vanity. Lots of fun planning, but will be more fun hopefully when we start to do it.
Have you painted ceramic tiles before? I'd love to hear from you about your experience with it.

sounds great Annette, sorry though i havent painted tiles before, good luck
I haven't had any experience painting tiles before, but I do know that the surface preparation makes it or breaks it.
The planter boxes look great, excellent idea to conceal the not so nice looking pots. It doesn't seem the weather for petunias yet but I know I had better get some soon or I'll miss out.
I've never painted tiles on purpose - I can tell you latex paint will come off ceramic tile (God be praised!). I stopped by your blog simply because I loved the name. I get a kick out of reading a blog with comments published tomorrow (it's still the 10th in Texas). And I like that I'm enjoying the first breezes and rains of autumn and you and yours are gearing up for spring.
Hello Annette,
Good luck with your bathroom reno. Haven't painted tiles I know they have the right paint for that.
Happy days.

Oh, lucky you, a bathroom remodel! I wish I was redoing a few of mine. I've never painted tile before, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to try. If it doesn't work then you could just get new :)
Sounds like you have your work cut out for you but it'll be worth it when you finish. I've never painted tile but would be curious to learn the process.
Enjoy your weekend!
